Montage pieces are created at a torch, in a flame that can reach 5000 degrees Fahrenheit. In the flame, different pieces of colored glass are precisely outlined in black glass, and then melted together. As the construction begins to develop, the piece is blown into a chosen shape while being turned in the fire. To create the various designs, the axis of rotation must be changed while the piece is spun and twisted.
